Glad this wasn't my introduction to the maritime arena, I'd have never gone to sea. So, with your less than normal charm and absolutely no enthusiasm in your introsuction of decaying art farts, why did you post them at all? Just askin'.

I apologise if I have been less than charming, Yodood. This is where I have been for the weekend and these are my photos. Maybe I am not quite so confident with my photography as I am with other stuff but I'm quite proud of them all the same!

Love them! Harbours are such great sources of pics. Now, do I sense a bit of wanderlust...?

Unknown said...

No, Vanilli, no wanderlust at the moment and certainly not by ship (reaches for the sick bucket). I am quite content with exploring my area and this was the Tall Ships Festival in Falmouth - bit of a shindig going on there all last week.

I love the tall ships. Believe in a former life I was the one on the widow's walk with a lantern and a shaw - waiting.

Ah, you do arty farty very well, m'dear.

ANOTHER boat-related fiesta in Falmouth? Blimey ...

Oh, my favorite is the ship with a pirate? on its bow. So much personality. Great photos, Minx!

I think it says in Moby Dick that there is 50 miles of rope and rigging aboard a whale ship. Actually, I think it says there is 500 miles, but that seems too unbelieveable to "lead" with.
So are you all still trying to rule the Falklands?

My typing is atrocious this AM so I deleted my comment to fix it. its pretty bad when you can't read your own bloomin' comment. It looked like French.

They were fabulous, Roberta, and so, err, tall! Not sure that I could do the tragi-widow-walk-lantern thing. i was probably the one drinking the health of his lost soul in the tavern!

Tis the season of the fish fest/boat admiration, Debi. We are all jigging in the rigging.

Ships and boats certainly do have personality, Petra - it's a great place to pick up some creative ideas.

I got yer first comment in my google alerts, Bullets, more Swahili than French!!
And yes, the crews on the tall ships seem to be a little anal about their knots and ropes.
We still rule all of the 79 sheep on the Falklands, btw.

I liked them a lot - plenty of colour and variety of shot. I saw the Tall Ships on the Mersey back in July. It gave just a little taste of how the river would have once looked.

LOVELY piratey pictures Minx, I especially like the flags.
Invitingly ominous....

They are all good, but the flags are the best. What a fun trip!

Btw, there are awards for you over at my place, and you ought to have a look at last Wednesday's post, it will give you a laugh.

A little anal? you would be too! Marlinspike SeamanSHIP is an Art form, maybe the only one too, that your very life depends upon.

I like to go down to the docks once in a while & smell the shrimp boats & dodge the sailor's barbers (Sea Gulls) as I enjoy the flotsam & jetsam slapping against the shore. It's very romantic. Great pictures! You captured it. :)

The tall ships were impressive enough at the dockside, TU, but once they moved out to sea under full sail they showed their true grace.

Minz? Have I turned Russian, FB?
I didn't catch Rudi's but i did watch a very good local latin band and danced about on the quay a bit!

Not much of a trip, Scarlett, only about 9 miles but well worth it. They reckon that about 30,000 people watched the ships leave - romantic lot, aren't we?

I am never anal about anything, Bullets - heh heh.

Mmm, a great place to flood the senses, HM. I am very lucky to have this on my doorstep.

Great pics. There's just something about ships and the sea.

Unknown said...

Yes, there is something, Marie, mostly they make me sea sick!!

From one artist to another, you have impeccable composition skills, well displayed in the photos, Minzka.
I like the turquoise color of the beam.

I'm with Scarlett!
Ahhrrrrrr Matey.

*laughing* As your blog was opening, I just now noticed your header with the pixy and what it says below about the bums! Was looking forward to anything you may have come up with, but that did it for me! :))`

So, does it, Petra?
