Confessions of a tea addict

My feet walk the same path every morning. I am more predictable than rain in summer.
As soon as my feet have hit the bedroom floor I only have one thought in my head, one goal, and nothing else will satisfy.

The object of my desire lies in the kitchen and I don't think flood, fire or famine would keep me from my morning ritual.
I need tea.

I know I am an addict. We can run run out of bread, potatoes and other important staples but I NEVER run out of tea. Without at least two cups to get me going I am nothing, less than nothing - a heap, a useless lump. There is no point in speaking to me until I have filled me tanks.

Although coffee takes over a couple of times a day, it is tea I rely upon to get me through a phone call, a friend's confession, a hard day at work or just because I fancy one.

I have to face it, I am an addict and I shall be buried in a teapot.

Hello Minx, I am in same club:) you would have loved to travel the Trans-Siberian railway, each carriage has an wood-fired samovar which is kept on 24 hours, the tea served in glasses in lovely old-fashioned holders.

Yodood, I have a feeling that this post is going to turn into a confessional - oh goody! And yes, I am rolling in papers as well.

I know we are in the same club, Wordcrafter, and I would love that. I often think that tea makings are just as interesting as tea itself.

Tea and coffee don't affect me anymore. But I like my coffee and I like it full of sugar and cream...I like it thick, like a candy bar.

"Now, when I die, bury me in my straight-leg britches,
Put on a box-back coat and a stetson hat,
Put a twenty-dollar gold piece on my watch chain,
So you can let all the boys know I died standing pat."

Standin' pat is where its at.

Coffee saved my life, so I owe it a debt of gratitude.

Why not get cremated and put your ashes in a tea caddy? That'll f*ck 'em at the wake!!

i can't say that people drinks are tasty to me. except ones with alcohol in them. i like shandies. i recently got into a lot of trouble at a pub because of a shandy.

just give me a big, big, big, big bowl of ice cold water on a hot, drooling kind of day .... even a big bucket or kiddie pool or lake! i love to swim. and retrieve. yeah: throw a stick or a ball or a rock - and i'm in doggy heaven swimming and retrieving for you.

sigh.
my owners don't take me out enough.

woof.

So the mad hatters tea party has moved to Minx's place?
WooHoo!

I just love the parties here, Minx.

So if you're Creamated (that's tea English style, no? ) and placed in a teapot urn... you'd be potted for eterni-tea... right?

Sorry. Couldn't resist.

I'm an Earl Grey girl, myself. Here's to you, lady.
Cheers.

OH, and I *LOVE* your mug.
Mine says "Don't ask until I've had my coffee".

The first question my aunt used to ask anyone who visited was
"you fuckoffee?"
She had a bit of a german accent. I'm like her, I think - not with the accent, but I'm always fuckoffee.

No, Bullets, they don't affect me either but I just don't seem to be effective without them.

Oh come on , Leslie, you can't leave us hanging like that!

Heh, naughty thought, John G, I could be the ultimate tea urn!

Iced tea is nice too, Lola.

Oh dear, Scarlett, some very urnest tries at tea-speak there! And yes, I love that mug too, it's my mid-afternoon mug (yes, all right, fessing up to having different cups for different times, okay?

I love coffee as well, Signs, except instant - devils brew! I confine myself to two cups a day otherwise I might have to peel myself off the ceiling.

Yuk, yuk and treble yuk! If you ever came here you could have all the tea to yourself!

Nah, not an addict, a true Brit! ;-)

Loose leaf Assam tea is my favourite, FB.

I like peppermint and chamomile as well, Sharon!

Yeah well, Vanilli, it is the national drink (officially). I wonder if there is a country with gin as its national drink?

And there was me thinking it was a peculiarly Irish thing. I am unable to start my day without a mug of deep, tar like substance.

"I shall be buried in a teapot." Love it! We'll have to start a 7 step program. Let me know when it's up and running!

If "we" meant "you" then it's time for some steep tea!

Unknown said...

I'm a southern minx, Lola, although unfortunately not very sweet!

No, we're all addicts, Babs, - I prefer mine full of flavour but no tar.

I have many addictions that I should give up, Petra, but tea isn't one of them. I am perfectly happy being a 'teabag'.

Genmaicha with a shot of honey - I gave up on milk ages ago ... give it a go - toasted rice tasty!

Crushed said...

I'm partial to both..

I think I drink (approx) six cups of each a day.

Which is twelve cups of Caffeine, I realise.

Do you have any prferences in types and style? I am worrying about Christmas present already...

Unknown said...

I have tried most bancha, Beach Bum, but not genmaicha.
I love homemade chai!

Probably bad for you, Crushed, but so is living.

A large crate of Lapsack Shoesnog should do it , Muts, and two tons of Custard Creams to dunk - thank you very much.

I no longer drink the stuff and haven't for over 20 yrs. Kind of a strip-teas-e.

Unknown said...

Yes, but you are a martyr to the coffee pot, Ms Alper!

Roberta said...

I don't drink much tea except for the occasional Iced.

I'm a coffee person. I like it like I like my men. Dark and bitter. :)

Oh yes couldn't've put it better myself so won't even begin to try! I agree with every letter; every little tea leaf; in this post!
