Once Upon a Time...

...there was a small girl who grew up on a diet of fairy tales and fables. It was a happy childhood full of imaginative poisoners, granny gobbling wolves, and stupid princesses who got too close to spinning, pricking things.

As the small girl got older she searched in vain for the pea under the mattress and realised miserably that there was no such thing as gingerbread houses and no point in continuing to kiss frogs.

The small girl grew into a minx and longed for the days when knights in tights saved girls with impossibly long hair who had been locked up in towers by deliciously evil relatives.

So please, end my misery before the season of the red, fat man and ...

WRITE ME A FAIRY TALE

..and restore my belief that there are trolls under the bridge, there are such things as seven little men all living in one house, and that the temptress, Goldiwotsit, was nothing more than a small, blonde, chair-breaking thief!

Contributions of prose (up to 900 words) and poetry, will be posted on my Little Minx blog and will receive a prize of great value (Baba Yaga cut my tongue out for such lies).

Can I write a furry tail instead?

What a splendid idea - I shall give it a go! It will be hard to avoid spoof and parody or things of a painfully unfunny comedic nature. I shall try to write something 'straight'!!

love the idea, and the sentiment.

I can't play along, as I am trying rather painfully to write something, that I consider to be fairytale-ish, for Nano, but I look forward to reading the words of others. Let the mad dreaming begin...

Minx,
Being a slightly overweight fairy, I haven't seen my own tail in a while.

Actually, busy with pre-holiday things at the moment. Americans are celebrating Thanksgiving next week. Company is coming! I have oyster dressing to prepare!

Can't wait to see what the others come up with!

OH I wish I had the time to play.

It sounds so wonderful! I'll have to visit all of them though, to escape the methodical torture that school has been inflicting on my brain and my time... ;o)

as soon as I can...

Scarlett & Viaggiatore

PS ~ very glad you stopped kissing frogs, there are too many to ever get through before finding the one who was only pretending... and who wants a prince who hangs out with frogs anyway?

I may have a crack, Minx. I've never written a fairy tale before ... can I scare the kids with this? lol

Furry, puff, or spiked, Debi!

No rush if you want to have a go. I haven't written a fairy tale before but ideas are a-flowin'...

Goldigga and the three Bruvas

Jack and the Hempstalk

Susan White and her seven vertically challenged cohabitees (a modern tale of polygamy)

Nah, I cannot for a minute believe that your faith in goblins, fairies, granny gobbling wolves has been dented. Tisn't possible. Clearly you haven't recently looked under your bed!

(Cooca? What kind of word verification is that? And she thinks there're no gingerbread houses. I ask you - when there's a cooca, or cocoa house right on her own blog.)

I have faith in goblins, Vanilli, truly!

Nuts! If it wasn't for NaNoWriMo I'd love to write a small fairy tale like this. Unfortunately, I'm in the process of writing a 50,000 word one.

Shakin' Booty?

Rumpledforeskin?

This will run until after Nanowrimo is over, Struggler - a fairytale should be a cinch after a 50,000 marathon!

Thank you, Mr Nothing - looking forward to it.

Debi, only you could come up with Rumpledforeskin - yurk!
