I've had a bit of a morning.

I think I must have had a silent beacon that said "come hither and tell me all your problems".

I didn't really need this today. I am neck deep in money and staffing issues and the last thing I wanted was to be used as a wailing wall.

My desk has a radiator next to it and one by one they came, perched on the heat with their cups of coffee and poured out their grumps and groans. Don't get me wrong, I have a good pair of ears, but today was one of those times when all I wanted to do was tell them to go and get a life. I didn't, I smiled sweetly and tried to continue juggling numbers in my head.

What is wrong with them? We all like a little grumble every now and again and working with an all female workforce allows you to offload those little everyday irritants called 'the men in our lives'. The trouble is, that I really did have a lot to do, yes really! Maybe I should have offered them a cup of this ........

I believe that must be my bosses motto. They never say it, but boy we know they mean it.

Fish are good listeners, especially if they're inside a tank. Humans should spend more time talking to fish - I think they'd appreciate it. Get a fish tank for the office.

Hmm, an agony fish - this may work. Do they need any kind of counselling qualifications, or am okay to just purchase a common old listening goldfish?

Will this be the solution, or am I just better off keeping a loaded weapon in me drawers in case the STFU coffee doesn't do the trick?

Questions, questions.....

When this happens to me, I simply look them squarely in the eye and say: "So what are you going to do about it? Telling me isn't going to fix it."

That usually sends them mumbling down the hall.

I'm a good listener too, but sometimes people should realise that they should try to solve their problems themselves and not offload them onto everyone else.

Don't mean to sound harsh, but we all have problems, and though it helps to share, there is a time and place and probably work isn't the best.

Take care, Minx

Man, Minx, and I was on my way to you with a problem that's been biting lately. Now I know all I'm going to get is a steaming cup of STFU coffee. Not good. I must find someone who has run out of coffee. Or a goldfish...soon.

Oh Cailleach, perhaps you are right. Maybe they are all affected by Seasonal Moaning Syndrome and I failed to spot it.

No! Wrong! If you have to go to work then you should try and make it as pleasant as possible. If you have problems then buy a punchbag, phone a friend, or get some serious drugs.

Now, Saaleha, what did you want to tell me?

i won't even begin to tell you about where i work! :)

See I'm allergic to STFU coffee. In fact allergic to STFU.

Cannot, will not, must not.

SO I'll not be saying anything.
