Patience

I was beginning to feel like a cat chasing a mouse - a mouse that had consumed large and regular doses of speed, and was forever just out of reach.
I had rummaged around in the cupboard and brought out every set of cards and runes I owned, but they all said the same thing. Patience.

I couldn't go on much longer. I found I was writing into the night most nights and the house was starting to resemble something out of a horror movie. It was no good - work was getting in the way of everything but there was no solution in sight. My job was too convenient to give up completely and we couldn't manage on one wage - I have a shoe fetish to support.

On Tuesday someone answer a prayer that I have been yelling into the ether for quite a while. On Monday I start a new job. Less hours, more money, less children. What more could I ask? So as from next week I shall have the pure and utter luxury of being a morning blogger. Oh, and I'll be able to get in a few hours writing as well!

Congratulations, Minx!
What a wonderful thing.
Naturally, your love for the writing craft is evident.
Good luck!

"less hours, more money..." Great combination!

Keep an eye on the extra time - I found I had to be MORE disciplined, because it is only too easy to put things off till later because you think you have more time! Best wishes, Minx, with this new phase in your life.

Equiano's right - you know I'm a hideous example of that more time/less productivity conundrum.

But I KNOW that's not going to happen to you - partly cos you will still be working and partly cos you're you!

Mega congrats on this next step in the journey!

I'm hopeless when I have too much time on my hands. I just keep putting everything off because I know I can always do it later. I suppose that's why I generally take on more work than I can comfortably cope with, because that way at least it actually gets done!

But I trust Debi and if she says you're not going to be like that then obviously you're not.

Good luck with the new job and I shall look forward to seeing you rushing around the blogosphere in the mornings :-)

I predict a riot of words

I hope that means your blog is guaranteed, Minx. I get the feeling that some people have become shaky on the whole thing! Is it true about Pundy? Do you think he really will pull the plug? There's a certain sadness when a fellow blogger - someone who started out about the same time and has been in on all the fun - falls off the wagon.

I've just seen Pundy's "calming of the waters". Whew!

Congrats Minx. Sounds very promising.

Now let's see if this goes in this time. I keep posting to you blog and it never appears.

Great news, Minx. Just don't start spending more time on the housework...better, spend less.

Good luck with the new job.

Congrats Minx. Starting a new job is always liberating I find-- lets you empty your head of negativity and face the world with fresh optimism. Best of luck. (personally, in the midst of Coven of One, I think you should take up writing full time and dispense with any other work!)

Feelin' a bit of smuggy smugness but this will be the first time in 24 years that I have not worked a full day. About time for a change then, I suppose.
The boss asked today about long term goals for the new post. Didn't have the heart to say "giving up completely as soon as bloody possible!"

Anyway, yes Shameless, it appears that the Pund has done a U-turn. Shall we make him pay for the stress he has caused? Yes, I think so.....

Good luck with the new job, Minx. Not that you need luck, but you know what I mean.

"Less children"? Which one of them are you getting rid of then?

Seriously, all the very best, I know only too well how important yet how difficult it is to try to balance the need to eat with the need to do the things you need to do, etc...I'm sure if anyone can do it, you can.

The Goddess of plum jobs has decreed that "thou shalt not work with the masses no more". I am turning my back on 32 under fives, in favour of overseeing the care of 6-10 in wraparound care.
So excited Maxine, this couldn't have come at a better time!

Caroline - you have repetitive comment injury - see a doctor!

Well done you lot. Not one of you mentioned the fact that I am, at heart, a lazy cow!
