Useless goes home

We know we did the right thing. Our stupid dog couldn't go on any longer.

The vet said it was the kindest thing we could do for him....so why do I feel like I have just committed murder?

I know how you feel. My lovely cat Suzy had to be put down eight years ago and it still hurts when I think about it. She had cancer and there was nothing the vets could do for her. I had her for 13 years and she was like a child to me.

My sympathies, Minx.

My sympathies also, Minx.
Trust your vet to have known when the time was right and that it was indeed the kindest thing.

My sympathies too.

We had to do it for our family dog once, awful. The older children still talk about it sometimes, and they were small. I wonder what it must feel like to sign euthanasia papers.

I hope, at this time, you're remembering the good memories, Minx. They are the ones that count and they are the ones that always matter and leave an indelible imprint..

Useless was a joy and a part of your family. But his days came to an end and he is at peace now, free of pain and discomfort, and able to pursue his loves in that other place, I like to think of as heaven.

Dog heaven, what would that be to Useless?

I'm so sorry, Minx! (((Hugs))).

Thank you all for your lovely comments.
I will miss the useless dollop for a good time to come - probably until I can pluck up the courage to go and pay the horrendous vet bill for calling out the 'death squad'.

OMG I am so sorry. I had to do the same to my 4 month old kitten a few years back when he developed a disease that meant all his organs were rapidly failing one by one. There was no way back but it was such a horrible feeling having to go through that. You have my sympathies.

Thanks Claire and Frank, really kind of you to leave a message.

And yes Pund, I know we did the right thing, but there is this yawping great hole in the breakfast room now...

Owen, the treacherous cat, thinks that all his birthdays have come at once!

I'm so sorry; this is always such a hard decision.

But I'm sure you did the right thing, and you can take comfort in knowing that you provided a good home and were caring right up to the end.
