Time to wave the white flag

There are times in our lives when everything becomes complicated and unmanageable. Times when a good soak in the bath won't do the trick and no amount of wine will take away the stress of trying to live in the fast lane. So what do we do, where do we go when we need to wave the white flag?

My Grandmother was born here. A tiny fishing village on the south coast of Devon called Hope Cove. It hasn't changed much in 200 years, and this is where we go when we need to chill out and get off the world for a while.

Its appeal lies in the fact that it is quiet, unspoilt and has an ambiance that is different, even from beautiful Cornwall.

Another factor is its name. This tiny village is split into two parts and there is nothing more comforting than staying in a place called Inner Hope.

Staying at Inner Hope. How wonderful. I need a small Inner Hope for meself right now. I'm getting things wrong and upsetting people all over the place. Well I hope you get away to the village soon. It looks amazing. Someday....

Whereas we live in Dull Witch. Surely a contradiction in terms?

Oh please, please, please tell me there will be lashings of ginger beer and a trip out to Kirrin Island whilst there! I've been searching for this place since I was 7 years old!

Looks and sounds nice, and is no doubt an excellent place to visit for a short while, but, as a city lad, I'd soon become restless and yearn for the sights and sounds of the metropolis.

In the heyday of the inner city the morning walk from your front door to the bus stop would be garnished with mementos of the previous night's revelling. Guaranteed would be splashes of carrot-filled vomit. These, along with the hot, steaming freshly laid dog turds would guide you to your destination. And here, unless you were unlucky, more of the same, except this would be human excrement, splattered down the bus shelter's side. This would combinine with the ever-present stench of piss - ah, such pungency! To complete the scene, there would be a shoe. Just the one. A trainer to be specific. Surreal! Priceless memories.

Very nice Minx.

I'll just have to settle for an Inner Hope of the mind ;¬)

A complete contradiction Debi. There is never a dull moment when there is a witch about!

And Lehane.....

"Come on Dick." said George "Let's take that boat that no one seems to own, we'll make for the cove".

"Be careful" Anne said "remember that mad professor that lives on the hill. He always did look a bit on the suspicous side".

I have known some very dull witches. (G'won... say it... why does she have to be bloody different?)

Looks lovely, Minx. Can I stay in the shed?
