Live long and popcorn

A trip to the cinema still excites me. Sharing a film with a bunch of film nerds and the overpowering smell of stale popcorn has never been enough to put me off going to see a nice big, fat, phaser drenched blockbuster.
Last night I trotted off to exchange body odours at the latest Star Trek movie.

A long time fan of the Star Trekking series and films I was a little worried that this one would fall on its ass before me ice cream melted. Going back to the beginning and resurrecting the original cast in new bodies was going to be a hard one to get my head around and just how were they going to capture the infinite cheesyness of James Tiberius Kirk, Bones, the grumpy bastard in sick bay or the engineering ("I'm giving it all she's got, Captain") madness of dear old Scotty.
And should I have been worried that the collective age of the crew only put them a few light years ahead of High School Musical (a film I know nothing about, I hasten to add)?

No, no worries at all. This was cracking film from the breathtaking CGI'd docking station that felt like 3D to the re-invented, facially tattooed (rather sexy) Romulan baddies. Thingy Wotsit, the director, got it spock on and even the uniforms brought on a familiar feeling like an old, comfy pair of lycra slippers.

I am left with a) an aching need to see it again, and b) a wish to hop on a plane and get the next one finished as soon as possible.
For the time being I will content myself with trying to fathom why I am now hopelessly in lust with the deliciously pointy attributed features of young Mr Spock....

.......beam me up, baby!!

Mayhap you could combine your interests in witchery and sci-fi to write "A Coven of 2250" with Zachary Quinto the endearing element of intriguing evil. His range is far from emotionless as witnessed in his role as Sylar in "Heroes"

There's a new trek movie??? Really?? I wonder when it will make it's way to the hinterlands of BC.

Word Verification
ranea The collective name for all the female aliens loved by James T.

Zach Quinto does the best 'evil guy' in Heroes.
Your lust is well directed.

Yodood - heh, heh - there's a thought, Dorcas and Spock!!

HI - I think you are pulling my chain - even Cornwall has electricity now!!!

Thank you, Leslie, I somehow knew this one would be on yer lust list!

I love 'Heroes' as well but the addition of the pointy earbits was enough to send me into warp.

By golly, Minx, I see what you mean. A bit mean to say this perhaps, but he seems to have more in the looks department than old Nimoy (though I did have a thing for him too). Popcorn and trekking is on the to do list now.

Off you go, Signs, the final frontier is only down the road!

I couldn't agree with you more about young Mr. Spock! I haven't had a crush like this since Elia Kuriakan from the Man From U.N.C.L.E!

Oh - but I thought Sylar had morphed into Nathan ... and now you tell me he's a Vulcan. I'm confused.

I got an aching to hop on a plane (sic) and get one finsihed (sic) myself.
Probably , thats way too subtle.
Is it?

Lordy, lordy, Roberta - I feel a weird crush post coming up!

Too much TV, Ms Alper?

Oh Bullets, your subtlety is as light as a feather!!

Did you see this in St Ives??
You've unwittttingly provoked memories of wet afternoons when we were all stuffed in the cinema watching Barbara windsir and craggy old Sid James etc in the cinema on all those family hols in the house at good old Clodgy View...

Just change your name to Galaxina, Minx, and you might have a good chance of being beamed up! I can see you steering your own spaceship! :))

Sharing body odour? UGH!

Unknown said...

I watched it in Truro, Jan, bit posher and no holidaymakers- yet!!

Hmm, spaceship would be good, Petra, could you write into one of your scripts, please?

Probably share more than odours, John G, Goddess only knows what else is deposited on those well used seats!!

I haven't gotten to see it yet! I am SO excited!!!
Can't wait. Most of my friends beat me to it, but there's a group going for second (and 3rd) visits... and I'll go along to see it with them.
YAY!

...and ewww... I don't want to know what's on the seats...
It's best that the lighting options are dim or dark.

Best thing I've seen in yonks. Like you I am an original trekkie. I watched it way back in 1966 and I lusted after jimmy. I still get a tingle when I watch William Shatner in Boston Legal...amazing! I was dragged along to this particular offering because you see I didn't believe they could pull off these wonderful characters to my satisfaction. I want to see it again and again.

.... and someone up for doing it... mwooohahahahahah!

Unknown said...

You can squat all you like but there are some nice beanbags over there, the fridge is stocked and I am still kicking it up on Facebook!

Off to Greekland for a couple of weeks and then...well, who knows?

leslie said...

Is she gone yet?

Debi said...

Yes, but giving us permission kinda takes the fun out of it ...

And what is this thing called Facebook???

Greekland ain't gonna know what hit it. Hope you've had a blast, deal Minxling. xxx

Debi,

FB is internet trickery that induces an addiction stronger than gin could ever hope to claim.

I've been sucked in myself. Thankfully, there are good people there, such as our Minx... except while she's on holiday.
