Year of the Minx!

I would like to tell you that I have been skiing in Austria, cruising around the Med or sipping champagne in the south of France - but I haven't. It would also be exciting to say that I have been cold turkey-ing, trying to rid myself of one of my more revolting habits - but I haven't (I like my horrible habits anyway). I took a break from everything over the holiday and now I am a bit late in wishing you a happy new year.

My crystal balls are a little cloudy about the coming year - how exciting! I have no wish to make predictions and can only predict that this year is going to be a hell of a lot better than the last one.
My one and only resolution is going to be to seize the moment and have fun. I am too old to stop and think and certainly too old to make resolutions that I can only keep for twenty-four hours.

The Minx almanac for 2009 says that the future is going to be unpredictably and resolutely exciting. Gin anyone?

I share the good feeling about 2009, Minx, couldn't wait for 2008 to bugger off and let the new year in. I don't really do gin but seem to have taken up smoking again, and cake. Both will be ditched, but meanwhile I am determined to enjoy. Cheers.

2009 is a winner, Signs, it could NOT be worse than last year! I am also determined to enjoy each and every moment.

Hadn't gone anywhere, Babs, just getting through another 'first' in my new life and it was okay. Gin, gin.

Bad elements must go in the non-recyclable bad element bin, Red. Learn, move on and stay in the positive.
I do owe you an email, honey, coming right up.....

Gin? Is that like Crazy Eights?
Let's play!

Playing already, Leslie. Look out 2009 you are about to be grabbed by the balls.

Gin and tonic please.
How's Cornwall?
Lucky Minx sipping her G+T in Cornwall..

Debi said...

Gin sling, please.

Howzabout some reverse resolutions? More gin, more smoking, more chocolate, more sex, drugs 'n' rock 'n' roll ...

Less life possibly, but I'm aiming for quality over quantity here.

Anything is like cricket, Leslie, after an eight ball crazy gin.

You can stop that snickerin', Red Ass, or are you laughing at the mail I sent!

Cornwall is bloody freezing, Jan, I have resorted to my not so attractive clothing in order to stop the frostbite.

Quality, Debi? Some I could take in any quantity!

All the best for 2009, Minx.

And to you too, Marie, may you step on many 'welcome' mats as new doors open!

She declares it "The Year of the Minx"
With more Sex, Cigarettes, and Mixed Drinks
She quivers her chin and says
"Darling, please bring more Gin"
And fixes her lipstick....Hot Pink!

Have a Limerick Year, baby!

Unknown said...

Yes, please, pass the gin.
Here's to a totally fantabulous 2009!

Unknown said...

Bullets, in reply...

I declared it the Year of the Minx
More minxy than anyone thinks
No quivering chin
but a naughty grin
and a truly lascivious winx

We will be more than fantabulous this year, Vanilli, we are going to be sublime!

Debi said...

Did someone say gin and lime?

Unknown said...

No, Debi, you are thinking of whiskey (again).

Thanks, Petra, and this year I hope you finally find out whose role it is!

A vice is much more effective, Red!

The wanton woman we know as Minx
Mixes with screwdrivers her drinks
She says "Rather Dear,

No need to be scared, John G, it is just another year.

Holding on, Jon, holding on....

I have been greatly challenged posting to my favorite blogs this last couple of weeks. Hell, I can't even find the link to post to my own blog, but hopefully I can to this.

Happy Exciting New Year to you Kate!

I'll have whatever you're having!

Now that I am in my 50s I was not surprised that the high spirits of Obamamania were almost instantly burst by the market meltdown and middle east quagmire. When I was younger I embraced magical thinking...someday everybody on the planet is going to share a universal moment of lucidity...a harmonic convergence of reason and tolerance.

Now I am satisfied that it's not my job to change the world it's my job to change me...and the beauty of that is having enough life-experience to understand that my old bad habits may be manageable but I am what I am for a number of reasons..many of which took decades to unfurl.

This is easily my favorite point on my journey. No more compare and despair, no more would-a should-a could-a second guessing. Just me and this fantastic troubling world to share and learn about.

09 is going to be a combination of whatever happens and whatever I make of it.

Good to see you, Roberta - sometimes we have to put oursleves where we need to be. I am doing the same myself which is why I am a bit tardy with the blogposts!

That'll be a double gin, ice and slice and a great big chunk of positivity, Don. I don't think you really need any extra, you seem to have a pocketful of good things. Nicely put, btw.

Oh yes please, Muts, much more laughter, and happy, and good stuff, and love, yes, lots of love.

I am abandoned, B, hedonism here I come.....

Bullets, I'll whoop yer lass!

True, Petra, it would spoil yer blog purpose a bit, wouldn't it!
