Succatash is corn and lima beans cooked together and tossed in a cream sauce with butter and pepper. My husbands favorite.
Nonono. We don't put oyster sauce on the turkey. We make a dressing or stuffing of bread cubes with onion and celery and garlic...then mix in the oysters and bake it on the side. My dad's favorite.
It's all eaten and the mess is cleared. I need a nap.

[stomps off to suck thumb and sulk]
Have some respect you two. This is a very significant day for our friends over the pond! Food and football, you know we can relate to that.Tut!
Are you being rude about my cousins?!?
Who ya callin' ugly?
watch out the TLF is about
What an ugly bird when it's alive. How beautiful when it comes out of the oven.
Mine is roasting away. (All 13 lbs of him) Should be done in a few hours. The house smells wonderful.
Here in the mountains of Appalachia we traditionally have:
The Turkey
stuffing
Oyster Dressing
Sweet potatoes
Mashed potatoes & gravy
Succatash
Cranberry sauce
Rolls
Pumpkin & Pecan pie
We cook for hours. It's eaten in 20 minutes. The clean up takes days!
I love Thanksgiving!
Yep, sorry, rude about the ugly ones!
Roberta, what exactly is 'succatash'? And I can't quite get me head around turkey with oyster sauce.
Ah. Language barriers!

So do I after reading that!
Happy Thanksgiving anyway!
Happy Thanksgiving to one and all, whether you're American or not. We all have something to be thankful for, even if its a 13 pound turkey. :)
Roberta, your menu sounds delicious.
Thank you Jefferson Davis!
I have plenty of left overs...come on by!
